Chakli, Chakri, muruku, whatever you call it, comes to your mind when its Diwali time. Chakli is one of the most made snacks in Indian home during Diwali festival. It can be prepared in many ways but I am sharing the simplest recipe to make soft chakli that can be eaten even by toddlers and seniors


  1. 500 gms rice flour
  2. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  3. 1/4 teaspoon hing (asafoetida)
  4. 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  5. 1 teaspoon chili ginger paste
  6. 1 cup butter
  7. Salt as per taste
  8. 2 teaspoon til seasame seeds
  9. Oil for frying


  1. In a mixing bowl add salt to 500 gms of rice flour
  2. Add turmeric powder, chili powder, chilli ginger paste, melted butter, hing, and seasame seeds.
  3. Add water and knead soft dough
  4. In the chakri mould add small portion and make chaklis
  5. Fry them on medium to high flame in hot oil till crispy
  6. Let it cool
  7. Store in air tight container
